⚠️New #COVID19 recommendations amid spike in #DeltaVariant ➡️All Mississippi residents ages 65+ & anyone with chronic conditions, should avoid all indoor mass gatherings **regardless of vaccination status**. Good. Delta is ~4x more severe than old strain🧵 https://t.co/rOQwp7dOta pic.twitter.com/BvllBUzK9J

The Delta hit to the US is now extending from cases to hospitalizations, 13 states with >65% Delta prevalence now with ≥25% increase of hospitalizations over past 14 days pic.twitter.com/shuWiAyBxQ

BREAKING: Fully vaccinated Mississippians now account for 12% of COVID-19 hospitalizations, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs says.

Two weeks ago, that figure was just 5%.
Dr. Dobbs says the Delta variant is driving the shift. https://t.co/0WnlLhItnG
The unvaxxed are clearly not afraid of any variant.

The vaxxed are afraid of the variants AND of the unvaxxed.
It's not about vaxxed vs unvaxxed. It's about living in fear vs living in truth. But those living in fear will never get it, because that's what fear does.
21) Both WHO and Los Angeles and California Capital all recommend that vaccinated people should mask while #DeltaVariant surging. CDC does not. While I love CDC, the @CDCDirectoris wrong here. CDC much change directions while #DeltaVariant is surging. https://t.co/6RU4QohQSj

History will look back on the US, with its overabundant supply of potent and safe vaccines, and wonder how it didn't adequately apply the tools to squash Delta in its tracks pic.twitter.com/5kTdkHtcpl

11) “2 dozen” countries with **near vertical rise** in #COVID19 cases. Let that sink in. #DeltaVariant is damn serious.

The higher infectivity of Delta means the threshold for herd immunity will be higher. 70% may have been enough before, but likely isn’t high enough against Delta, as shown by case increases in places like the UK and Israel, which have high vaccination rates.

9) In this same study, the Singapore researchers found #DeltaVariant to have much higher viral load than other major strains. Thus, the higher severity is indeed very likely. Both lab and epidemiology supports it. This is also likely one reason why Delta is so transmissible too pic.twitter.com/VhKJmieD2F

“New data demonstrate that vaccines are just as effective in protecting people against the Delta variant as other strains. About 89% of people who have tested positive for the Delta variant in L.A. County in June were either unvaccinated or partially ..” https://t.co/Xb4Z7QV4m1
