As someone who has written for decades about corporate crime, I was reading the Trump O/Weisselberg indictment going, "Yah, ok..hmm..yah..ok..Wait..HOLY SHIT!" The Trump Org is in deep, deep trouble. And not because of the criminal charges. Because of its bank loan covenants.../1

Allen Weisselberg avoided $1.7 million in taxes. That’s not how much he got in fringe benefits, that’s how much he avoided paying in taxes.

If Weisselberg and his son were being paid off books ... what are the chances that the Trump family were being paid off books?

I’m not optimistic that Weisselberg will flip but I am optimistic he’ll be convicted. The law is fairly clear on what is income & what is taxable. He’s a sophisticated executive; mistake is implausible. The company booked much of it as income. And juries hate rich tax cheats.
